Senior Data Engineer

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and research-driven Senior Data Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing and developing scalable, high-performance data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Synapse Analytics. This position requires a forward-thinking individual with a passion for innovation in data engineering, a strong foundation in data modeling, and hands-on experience with lakehouse architectures and modern data ingestion practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines and notebooks using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Develop and maintain Lakehouses and Data Warehouses using Fabric’s OneLake architecture.
  • Integrate diverse data sources using Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, and Pipelines within Fabric.
  • Collaborate closely with BI teams to enable seamless integration with Power BI and other reporting tools.
  • Ensure robust data governance, security, and compliance within the Fabric ecosystem.
  • Optimize data storage and processing for improved performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct automated functional testing for data flows alongside development.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain high data quality and workflow reliability.
  • Document system architecture, data models, and end-to-end processes.
  • Apply innovative thinking and a future-focused mindset to data project design and execution.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably in enterprise or cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in PySpark, Spark SQL, and data modeling techniques.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including: Shortcuts, Mirroring, Dataflows Gen2, OneLake architecture.
  • Solid understanding of data ingestion design patterns and real-time/batch data processing.
  • Experience in data pipeline automation and notebook development.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and practices in data projects.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Salary bracket: PKR 200,000 – 550,000 (based on experience and expertise)
